About Us

7 Mile Vineyard is a family vineyard owned by Eric and Marcia Miller, and it now involves three generations of Miller's. 7 Mile Vineyard is one of the more senior vineyards in the Yakima Valley. It was planted in 1985 by pioneer wine maker Paul Portteus on ten acres cut out of an original homestead plat. A well-weathered outbuilding from the homestead remains and is still functional. Shards of pottery, glass and metal artifacts from the homestead continue to percolate to the top of this extraordinary soil.

The vineyard lies on the Southern edge of the Rattlesnake Hills AVA. We do not make any wines ourselves, but rather we concentrate on growing the highest quality grapes for fine wine making. Several top winemakers use our grapes. We also love working with home and club winemakers as they use the same hand intensive care we do with the thousands of vines in our care.

While 7 Mile Vineyard is our passion, to ensure the highest quality grapes, it is professionally managed by brothers Pat and Matt Rawn of Two Mountain Winery fame. Each and every vine is meticulously hand pruned and pampered throughout each year. In 2011 we replaced the irrigation system with a state-of-the-art system which allows precise watering as each plant dictates. We augment our power needs with solar power and utilize recycled building materials in our constant refurbishing of the timeless residence on the property, Casa Ancho Doble.
